Urban Design excursion
Because of the relative unfamiliarity with many colleagues with the old Moscow and the many interesting new developments, I organize excursions to Moscow on request. In 2017 and 2018 there were excursions that showed the special phase in which the city of Moscow is today. The city is working hard to bring all public space, parks and urban spaces to 'European' standards or better, 'humanizing' the city.
I myself have been coming to Moscow several times a year since 2004 and know the city well and it's the rapid urban developments of recent years. In this city the historical layers tumble over each other. The yoke of the Tatars, Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, the French attack, the Revolution and the Soviet Union, the second World War, the Turbo capitalism, all have had an effect on the urban fabric.
In five days it is possible to see the highlights and the most important urban ensembles of the city. The highlight in 2017 was the newly opened city park Zaryadye, located next to the Kremlin. The many recently redeveloped factories and the beautiful bicycle and pedestrian boulevard from the city center along the Moskva River towards the Sparrow Hills have a high urban quality. Worth visiting are both the first metro stations and many recently completed metro stations.
